“With more than 307 kilometres of groomed piste, it’s clear to see why famiiles (Royal or not) come back to Klosters again and again”.
Estelle Lee, SMALLISH

Klosters is a resort with a difference. It is steeped in history. It has long been a favourite of the British Royal Family, but also became known as “Hollywood on the Rocks” in the 1960s when Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, Yul Brynner, Lauren Bacall and Greta Garbo became regulars. Gene Kelly famously danced on the tables in the hotel bar of the Hotel Chesa Grischuna while Rex Harrison discussed his musical notes for “My Fair Lady” with the hotel pianist.

Klosters has lost none of its glamour. If offers an unparalleled ski proposition with five extensive areas and 307km of well-groomed piste to choose from. The sunny Madrisa is perfect for beginners. The Jakobshorn is best for snowboarders and the famous Parsenn is best for wide-open and beautiful ski-ing through the trees.

Klosters shares its ski area with nearby Davos. There’s a huge range of piste skiing available along with a fantastic snow park for those who enjoy freestyle, as well as plenty of opportunity for freeriding, easily-accessible off piste and ski tours.

Klosters is probably most famous for off-piste and touring. We can recommend very experienced local guides who will take you for as long (or as short!) a day as you feel up to, ski-ing through ancient villages and down forgotten valleys with tiny bars appearing, as if by magic, for much-needed schnapps stops. Heli-skiing is limited in Switzerland, but can be arranged locally.

Even cross-country skiers will find long trails leading out of Klosters, as well as in the Landwassertal (Davos). Great fun to try on a snowy day – traditional or “skating”.

Non-skiers can avail themselves of winter walking paths, horse-drawn sled rides, skating, toboggan runs and snow-shoe trekking – as well as the famous spa in the Vereina hotel and a wide range of après-ski activities and nightlife venues in Klosters and nearby Davos.

Distances to ski lift: 5 mins by car or 10 minute walk through the park. (Local car/4 x 4 hire available)

Haus Alpina has a fully fitted ski-room with boot warmers in the garage .

“The skiing is magical – such an unspoilt and romantic place to ski for all levels and the run to Kublis through the trees with a Swiss mountain train ride at the end is a wonderful experience”
Mrs M Hope, Bucks

“There is nothing to beat off-piste skiing at Klosters. While there are testing couloirs for the experienced, there are runs that bring you to deserted villages with the most exquisite wooden framed houses and the friendliest of bars. It is just so life enhancing.”
Mr E. Buscall, London
